HR Advisor

Job Introduction

We’re looking for a bright, articulate and ambitious person to join the Dentsu Aegis Network HR Operations team in order to help deliver quality and consistent advice at all stages of the employee lifecycle. 

You’ll sit in a central HR team of circa 55 people who work across all 24 of Dentsu’s brands.

If you’ve been an HR Administrator, Assistant or Advisor but have outgrown your current role and want to have your own ER casework and see it through to completion this could be perfect for you.

Role Responsibility

As an HR Advisor here at Dentsu you’ll work closely with the HR Business Partners (who currently sit in individual brands) to deal with any ER issues that arise be that disciplinaries,  performance management, probation fails or lead conversations around maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave with soon to be parents to make sure they understand the process and what they need to do. Essentially, a lot of the work you’ll do will be helping our largely inexperienced line managers understand how to have difficult conversations and lead them through situations they are unlikely to have encountered previously.

We’re looking for someone with the confidence to run their own meetings with stakeholders across the business and trust their judgement on the relevant HR process to follow. There will be times when you’ll be dropped in at the deep end, but there will always be someone on hand to ask for advice (we’re a big team so remember to pull on everyone in it when needed).  We’re looking for someone who wants to engage with our business and build relationships in our own HR team so you can easily escalate more complex queries to the relevant HR expertise team as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll be required to pull on your employment law knowledge gained in previous roles to ensure we’re managing any risk to the business. It’s not essential that you’ve worked in media or advertising before, we’re employing you for your HR skills not your industry knowledge after all. If you’re working towards or have your CIPD then great, but it’s not an essential requirement for us, on the job experience counts just as much.

Credibility, confidence and collaboration will be key for someone to be successful in this role. Your key stakeholders will be as much about your own HR team as the business stakeholders so ensure you keep people updated with what’s going on.

Personal Qualities:

For us we’re happy to teach someone all they need to be successful, however we won’t compromise on attitude. Our industry changes so quickly and we’re asked to work at pace most of the time and sometimes without all the information so you need to be flexible in your approach. This also applies to your ways of working, you may not sit in the same place, work with the same people or the same project from one day to the next due to the varied nature of the business.

You’ll need to be curious and have an inquisitive mind, always looking at things from different perspectives and asking why if you don’t understand. You’ll also be exposed to sensitive data and you’ll need to respect the position you’re in and be diplomatic and confidential at all times.
