Every time a consumer interacts or transacts with an advert, a piece of content, a brand or another consumer data describing the interaction is created.

At Dentsu Aegis Network, protecting the data entrusted to us by our clients and others is of paramount importance. The privacy of individuals is of paramount importance, and our dedicated privacy team continuously review our approach to data protection.


Role Overview

The Data Protection Officer (Functions) will support the Global Data Protection Officer to embed a data protection and monitoring regime across the HR, Finance and Procurement functions aligned with the framework set by the Global Data Protection Officer.

The role will work collaboratively building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders to reduce the data protection risk to an acceptable level. This will be achieved through a combination of raising awareness, training and monitoring in accordance with the obligations set out in the GDPR and similar laws and regulations.

This role will have a pivitol role in ensuring the vendor data protection risk is appropriately managed and will interface with colleagues in markets and Legal to ensure that contract life-cycle management processes are in place and working as intended and that the principles of Privacy by Design are adhered to.

The role holder will be a key interface between Legal, HR, Finance and Procurement as the first point of escalation for data incidents and breach reporting. The individual will help to promote a positive data culture across DAN through executing local spot checks and third party audits as a part of the wider monitoring effort.


Key Responsibilities

There are three broad areas of responsibility, as follows:

  1. To act as trusted data protection adviser and business partner for HR, Finance and Procurement functions.
  2. To be the operational data protection interface between Legal, HR, Finance and Procurement and initial point of contact for incident management within these domains.
  3. To provide risk driven second line monitoring.


And specifically:

  • Drive continuous data protection improvement within the Dentsu Aegis Network by constructively challenging existing processes and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic audits of data protection compliance within the Dentsu Aegis Network and of vendors identifying actions necessary for remediation.
  • Foster a positive data protection compliance culture with DAN.
  • Influence and advise on optimal technical and organisational measures to protect and safeguard personal data in support of Privacy by Design.
  • Maintain ongoing and current knowledge of evolving data protection and privacy laws.
  • Ensure data governance processes and procedures for security are established and adhered to.
  • Foster a positive data protection compliance culture with DAN.
  • Maintain ongoing and current knowledge of evolving data protection and privacy laws.


 Key Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience data protection role in a multinational environment.
  • Robust understanding of core elements of data protection law and regulation and how it impacts business functions.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high quality reports and presentations.
  • Hold a recognised Privacy qualification(s) such as IAPP/E or BCS (ISEB).
  • Able to occasionally work out of hours and at weekends (Incident management).
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to liaise and brief senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of the interrelationships between systems, architecture, platforms and security.


Preferred but not essential

  • A strong background in internal controls would be helpful e.g. previous experience in an Internal Audit or similar role.
