Global Account Director

Job Introduction


The purpose of this role is to drive business growth by unlocking the client’s business opportunity and DAN capability, to deliver outstanding client service, innovative and ambitious client solutions which have business value to clients at the heart


The role is a rare opportunity to work with some of the biggest global brands to increase retention and growth with our current clients and also supporting on boarding new clients within the Dentsu Aegis Network.


The Group Account Director will be responsible for managing a small team Account Managers/Executives and will report to the Associate Director. The role is within the Client Services team.


The role will be overseeing a ‘pod’ of accounts providing leadership and responsibility for the output of the team and working with the Associate Director to tie that back in to the wider business objectives.


The Account Director will be responsible for the development, management and presentation of deliverables from the trading and account team. The roles within the pod include, Senior Account Managers, Account Managers, Campaign Managers and Account Coordinators. This role will also be responsible for developing, implementing and driving strategies for new client business and organic growth.


Role Responsibility

The Global Account Director, has three main areas of responsibilities:

  • To be a business lead for the group of accounts overseen
  • Managing and building the agency and client relationship
  • Line manage 3-5 people


Key accountabilities include

  • Structures and manages the team to deliver business to targets
  • Inputs into the resourcing and training of the team
  • Manages and is responsible for financial processes and reporting to the wider business
  • Drives the achievement of agreed targets
  • Manages relationships between internal stakeholders and clients to build commercial strategy and achieve revenue targets
  • Educates clients and provides thought leadership in audience targeting, data management and programmatic buying
  • Is at the forefront of programmatic innovation, pushing to exceed target
  • Improves and innovates in programmatic
  • Acts a leader, directly line managing a team and contributing initiatives across the wider Amnet team
  • Delivers innovative and ambitious, strategic and commercial solutions that balance client and agency values working closely with colleagues and clients
  • Owns relationships with mid-level clients on a day to day basis.
  • Builds strong client relationships as a trusted advisor with senior client and industry stakeholders
  • Deepens the relationship to ensure retention and growth
  • Manages team to ensure they also build strong relationships with their counterparts to deliver outstanding client service
  • Immerses self and team in clients’ business: understanding their challenges, objectives, external economic environment, markets they operate in, competitive threats and relevant partner agencies; knows their business model, how it is performing and what success looks like; knows client’s products inside out and applies this knowledge to deliver innovative, ambitious client plans and service;
  • Creates the conditions for great work and champions great work;
  • Works seamlessly with other OPCOS and markets as needed to ensure best in class delivery
  • Uses account plans to stimulate and track future work; manages resources effectively
  • Understands client commercial framework and works with senior account leadership to ensure business is run profitably
  • Improves client satisfaction to expand existing revenue streams and build new ones
  • Manages systems for forecasting accurate spend and track progress
  • Translates agency strategy into innovative, executionable business plans for own client that deliver business value


The Ideal Candidate


Industry experience in programmatic, trading and client management with a strong understanding of Agency commercials

2+ years ‘hands on‘ Programmatic experience 

Strong communication and management skills

Good all round client knowledge

Good overall knowledge of DAN products and services

Commercial acumen

Lead medium client/team

Good sector experience

Experience of at least two functions including digital

Strong Planning experience
